UFC's Brian Ortega Chooses Kraftwerks USA!

Find out why Brian chose Kraftwerks for his Jeep Wrangler JK...

In its stock form the 2012 to 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK is an extremely capable off road vehicle. The ubiquitous V6 Pentastar power plant sends 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. However, larger tires, upgraded bumpers, and recovery gear soaks up the horsepower.

When towing, a lack of power becomes even more apparent.

Giving the JK a Fighting Chance

When The Ultimate Fighter's Brian Ortega built his 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK he teamed up with one of our local shops here in California, All Terrain Garage, to get the best parts outfitted to his vehicle.

Brian and All Terrain Garage chose to install a DV8 Steel Front Bumper, DV8 Hardtop, Smittybuilt Recovery Winch, Rock Slide Engineering Steel Step Sliders, Teraflex HD tire carrrier, 6" Teraflex Lift with Alpine Arms & Falcon 3.3 Shocks, Vision MANX 17-inch wheels, huge Toyo Open Country 40-inch tires, plus a plethora of light bars and other options.

Now set up to conquer nearly any terrain, there was one last problem to overcome: Power.

The Hard-Hitting Solution

With all of the added upgrades, Brian's Jeep had gained 400+ lbs of weight in accessories and recovery gear. Not to mention a huge leap in unsprung weight due to the weight added from all the extra rubber supplied by the 40-inch Toyos. All the extra rotating mass in the wheel assemblies translates to even an increase in drivetrain power loss and extra strain on the already-limited engine power.

To provide a solution, Kraftwerks USA stepped into the ring.

To provide Brian with all the power he would need to conquer any obstacle, All Terrain Garage installed our Kraftwerks USA Jeep Wrangler JK 3.6L Supercharger system.

This system provided 328 horsepower at the rear wheels, a gain of 130 horsepower over stock! Torque was additionally bumped up to 280lb-ft, all on stock headers and exhaust. More than enough power to spin the huge 40-inch tires and overcome the weight added from all the steel upgrades and accessories!

Making Power Efficiently

The 100% bolt-on Kraftwerks Jeep Wrangler JK 3.6L Supercharger System harnesses a belt-driven, traction drive centrifugal supercharger unit. This drive style translates power through the frictional forces between its rolling elements, reducing power losses commonly found in traditional supercharging systems. The unit's compact size allows for precise fitment in the engine bay that is not only easily accessible, but also easily serviceable.

The charger is kept cool via an internal, independent oiling system featuring a dual-action oil pump to lubricate the charger unit as well as pumping oil to and from the separately mounted oil cooler. Due to this design, the supercharger also operates much cooler when compared to turbochargers or traditional supercharger systems. This translates to lower intake air temperatures which reduces chances of engine detonation (knock) and increases horsepower gains.

The included front mount intercooler was designed to fit perfectly behind the grill of the JK, further reducing intake air temperatures and keeping the boosted air charge extremely cool and dense. Additionally, coated aluminum intercooler piping protects from corrosion while keeping air flow consistent and shielded from heat.

Grams Performance 52lb/hr fuel injectors are also included with the kit to provide adequate fueling and a separately sold engine management system is available for proper engine tuning. Additionally, these injectors are compatible with E85 and all other known fuel types. The CNC machined brackets and idler pulley system affix the supercharger and belt to the front of the engine ensuring a high quality fit and finish.

Top of the line fit and finish coupled with premium quality components and the high adiabatic efficiency of the supercharger unit keeps huge gains in power on tap as needed. Premium designed from over two decades of engineering on- and off-road, our supercharger system provides high horsepower, high reliability and peace of mind to conquer any terrain.
